Two tools, both of which know when to stop

Neither of these invents a number. Between them they work from the 47 listings on this site and nothing else, and where a listing is silent they print the silence instead of an estimate.

Sizer Check

It calculates nothing at all. It repeats what a listing states about size, stamps every figure the listing leaves out, and tells you how to measure the bag yourself across the wheels.

The rules it works by, printed

  1. Only listings that state a full external size are offered here. A trade size such as 21 in is a naming convention, not a measurement, so it is not enough to work from.
  2. A category with no such listing is switched off, and the reason is printed beside it.
  3. The expanded option is switched off for a listing that claims no expansion, because it could not change a single line of the result.
  4. Nothing is calculated. Every figure below is repeated from the listing, and every gap is left as a gap.

Volume Check

It divides a stated capacity by a stated set size and by the days you are away. If the bag has no stated capacity it says so and stops, rather than quietly substituting an average.

The rules it works by, printed

  1. The capacity buttons are the capacities listings actually state. There is no average and no rounding among them.
  2. If you choose a bag whose capacity is not stated, the calculation stops. It does not fall back to a typical figure, because a typical figure printed here would be read as a measurement.
  3. The set sizes are the set sizes the organizer listings offer. Nothing has been added.
  4. Both thresholds below are conversions from the definition of a liter as a cubic decimeter, not measurements of any product. No listing on this site states a cube dimension.
